“Operational Effficiency, a strategic lever for Services Centric Organizations in the flat world”
There are several factors that impact the profitability of the service centric organizations in the flat world and the emergence of out-sourcing and global delivery model is certainly one part of this. There has been some discussion on the US$ depreciation issue and this has impacted the toplines of organization that derive revenues in this currency. The impact here has been some 10% or thereabouts. However, most publicly traded service entities in India work at roughly 70% utilization.

So what is a bigger issue… Utilization or Currency? And what about operational efficiencies?

This issue is close to our hearts as Whizible allows you to remove the mystery in execution cycle and bring about visibility and operational efficiencies

We are sure that the audience will be very keen to know the views of the august panel comprising of....

“Software Products vs Software Services, what will drive value for India's IT Industry : Today and Tomorrow”
India (and Asia) has primarily grown as a destination for providing software services. Services organizations have also created a lot of value for customers, employees and investors. However, the landscape is changing around us. There are handful but determined software companies that are creating own products and IP. A nascent ecosystem is trying to find its place. They believe that this is where the next wave of value generation will happen.

The question is - "Will Software Product's Fragile Ecosystem survive the onslaught of high volume Software and IT enabled services and catalyze IP growth?"

To discuss this hot topic, we would have with us.....

In the largely undifferentiated world of Services, where ‘what’ the organization does is standardized and often commoditized; ‘how’ the organization works can provide the differentiator. From Strategy to Execution - using the Balanced Scorecard

Traditional techniques based around competitive market analysis have been used to drive strategy development activities have gained pre-eminence in creating a performance measurement framework to review progress on strategy.

However as organizations strive to grow in ever increasingly competitive markets, the new approach of Blue Ocean Strategy offers an exciting way of looking at strategy development through the creation of ‘new market space.’ This approach may be used to completely redefine an entire business’s strategy, or alternatively may address some part or component of the business whilst recognizing that many components of traditional company strategic thrusts based around competitive strategy will continue to deliver acceptable results in the future.

It is also observed that though many organizations have excellent business strategy there are severe lapses in the execution at the operational level. Cascading business strategy as appropriate to Projects becomes a great challenge.

The Balanced Scorecard has specific focus on four perspectives – Financial, Customer, Internal and Learning. It also has a focus on balancing long term and short term goals of an organization. It is observed that organizations, which do not have a robust framework to deploy a “Balanced” set of goals at the Project level, fail to achieve organizational alignment and integration.

The key objective of developing such a framework was the following:

  • Create a sustainable strategic position at the industry
  • Focus on Financial as well as non-financial goals
  • Balance short-term and long-term organizational objectives
  • Create a Learning organization

Challenges in sustenance of enterprise wide tools – Whizible perspective

O rganizations use multiple tools, some of them are enterprise wide tools used by different types of users with varying expertise level. There is mulitple challenges faced from the start of implementation - from setup to pilot and then to organisation wide roll out. Challenges could in the form of sustenance of the tool usage, adaptation to the new business process, attrition among others. Whizible is one such enterprise wide tool which on a complete rollout would touch most of the organisation.

This discussion would be to share good practices around these challenges.
